SYMPTOMS

Extract abends with below error upon startup against Sybase database version 15.5.


2011-06-28 09:26:27 GGS ERROR 145 Oracle GoldenGate Capture for Sybase, ggs_ext.prm: VAM function VAMInitialize returned unexpected result: error 600 - VAM Client Report <Server message : <SybaseVAM Data Context>: number(9169) severity(16) state(1) line(1) Procedure: Not Available The DBCC LOGTRANSFER ('setqual', 'logop', ...) command has been invoked with log record type 'cmdnoop', which is not supported. The command did not execute WHEN FAILED : While setting 'operation code' to sybase Library in database connection process WHERE FAILED : Sybase Log Context Module CONTEXT OF FAILURE : No Information Available!>.

CAUSE


Sybase database version 15.5 is not supported in OGG versions prior to 11.1.1.1 and thus the error.

SOLUTION


Use OGG v11.1.1.1 for sybase database version 15.5.
